On this page
Politecnico di Milano (Polimi) is a public technical university in Milan with a large English-taught offer in engineering, architecture and design. For non-EU master's students with a foreign degree and no scholarship, tuition is the maximum of €3,943.04 a year (2026/27), but early applicants can win merit scholarships with a full tuition waiver.
Polimi is on this list because its quality and scholarships can make it excellent value, even though its standard fee is higher than most public universities here. The 2027/28 early-bird window is open until 1 December 2026.
Why Polimi can be good value
- Merit scholarships for early applicants: a full tuition waiver (you pay only an administrative fee of about €170), and some awards add up to €10,000 a year.
- Huge English-taught offer: 7 bachelor's, 45 master's and 21 PhD programs listed in the FindUniPath fact pack.
- Cheap early application: €50 in the early-bird window instead of €150.
- Milan location for internships in engineering, design and industry.
Politecnico di Milano tuition fees
For 2026/27, Polimi's fee for bachelor's, master's and single-cycle programs ranges from €157.04 (ISEE up to €22,000) to €3,943.04 a year. The first instalment is €880.04 at enrolment and the second, in May, is €0–3,003 depending on your income indicator.
Most non-EU MSc students pay the maximum
Non-EU students admitted to a master's with a foreign bachelor's degree who receive no scholarship (from Polimi, other institutions or the regional DSU) pay the maximum fee, even if they submit an ISEE parificato. That is why the merit scholarship and DSU matter so much at Polimi.
Students with income or assets abroad on other paths (for example bachelor's) use an Equalised ISEEU to calculate their fee. See cost of studying in Italy for how this compares with other universities.
