Scholarships

TU Graz High Potentials scholarships are funded with partner companies: up to €17,600 for master's students (for example GRAWE, apply until 15 February 2027) and up to €8,800 for bachelor's students (application 5 May to 7 July 2027 for winter 2027/28, but bachelor's are German-taught). Places are limited, so treat them as a bonus, not a plan. More options are in our scholarships in Austria guide.

Applying from Afghanistan

Master's not possible with an Afghan bachelor's

TU Graz states that you cannot be admitted to a master's with a bachelor's degree from Afghanistan. For German-taught bachelor's, the Afghan 12-grade certificate alone is not enough; you also need at least two years of full-time study at a recognised institution with a CGPA of 3.5 or more.

Afghan nationals with a degree from another country can still benefit from the tuition waiver. If that is your situation, ask TU Graz which documents they need. For legalisation background, see our documents and legalisation guide.

Living costs and visa money

OeAD estimates average student living costs at about €1,300 per month. For the Residence Permit – Student in 2026 you must prove €722.58 per month under 24 or €1,308.39 per month from 24, for 12 months in advance. Read our Austria student visa guide.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Missing the December registration for the six selection-procedure master's: the window for 2027/28 closes on 15 December 2026.
  • Using an agent: TU Graz rejects applications submitted by agencies.
  • Applying with an old English certificate: it must be no older than two years.
  • Forgetting the posted originals: the online application alone is not enough; originals must arrive by post within the deadline.
